Session #12: DMF Updates with CloudVision Integration and Packet Capture Strategies

For enterprises and organizations of all sizes, networks are critical infrastructure for every aspect of running the business. However, they can be so complex that network operators don’t have complete visibility into their own network. Without visibility in all parts of the network, security tools cannot be fed and extra time is spent resolving issues. To gain visibility, many enterprises implement a network packet broker solution that mirrors production network traffic and sends it to the appropriate tools. These enterprises are finding that traditional network packet broker solutions are complex to implement and often have visibility gaps.

The Arista DANZ Monitoring Fabric (DMF) solution provides a modern network packet broker solution with a flexible architecture that provides pervasive network visibility. DMF adds value to simplify NetOps workflow via integration with Arista’s CloudVision on-premise or as-a-service to provide auto-span functionality for Arista Unified Cloud Networking (UCN) solutions right from a DMF policy. To help gain pervasive visibility without the use of agents, DMF can integrate with virtual overlays like vCenter and NSX-T to enable agentless VM-to-VM monitoring. In addition, to help with network troubleshooting, DMF provides the ability to capture and replay packets that are mirrored from the production network. DMF also provides visibility of network flow data.
