Cybersecurity Insiders surveyed its 600,000-member information security community to find out what CISOs and their frontline cybersecurity teams think about AI’s current and potential impact on their profession and to discover the current AI maturity level of organizations based on team knowledge, AI strategy development, adoption of AI-enhanced tools, and current and planned budgets.
Key Findings:
1. FEARS:
- AI will likely make phishing and social engineering more dangerous.
- 77 % of cybersecurity professionals are concerned about rogue AI.
- Most (62%) expect offensive AI to develop faster than defensive AI.
2. HOPES:
- AI benefits include better threat detection and vulnerability assessments.
- Detecting and preventing intrusions (48%) is expected to benefit most from AI.
- The number one KPI used to measure AI success is cost savings (41%).
3. PLANS:
- 61% of adoptions are at ground zero or at their earliest stages.
- AI/ML-enhanced anomaly detection and network monitoring.
- 68% expect budget increases, and 41% deem AI a top or high-priority.
